Vietnamese Cities to Explore Technological Innovations for Urban Resilience


Two exiting V-LED events on technological innovation for urban resilience are happening this month in Viet Nam.

On 17 March, UN-Habitat in partnership with Can Tho City will hold a good practice exchange on “Technological Solutions in Promoting Low Emission Development and Urban Resilience”.  The event will provide an opportunity for Can Tho and other invited cities in Viet Nam to share their plans and demands for how innovations in technology can support urban resilience.

During the good practice exchange, Japanese delegations will share practical technologies and solutions to foster cooperation and partnerships as well as support the cities achieve climate resilience and sustainability.

On 20 March, UN Habitat is organizing a vertical policy dialogue on “Integrating Technological Innovations in Urban Policy - Towards Low Emission Development and Urban Resilience” in Hanoi. This event will be co-organized with the Academy of Managers for Constructions and Cities of the Ministry of Construction. The event revolved around the following objectives:

  1. Discuss how national policies on urban development and technology promotion can better support planning and investment strategies of cities considering the country’s green growth strategy and climate change priorities for actions;
  2. To introduce examples of innovative technologies that support urban development and climate change responsiveness; and
  3. To gather ideas from and for cities on what, why, how, when and whom they should approach to integrate innovative technology solutions in their current planning and development context.
