V-LED Dialogue Event in Manila: INDC Implementation & Solid Waste Management

After a successful good practice exchange on local low emission strategies in the solid waste sector, organised in Santa Rosa on March 16, it is now time to connect the dots:

On Friday March 18, UN-Habitat and adelphi are organising a vertical dialogue event that will connect stakeholders from different government levels to discuss the implementation of the Philippine INDC, focussing on the solid waste sector. The event will be co-hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB).

In the spirit of the V-LED project that aims to stimulate local climate action by aligning the efforts of multiple governance levels, a call for local and national level partnerships for INDC implementation will be at the heart of the event.

First, participants will learn about national strategies for low emission development and sustainable solid waste management (SWM). Second, local governments will showcase their good SWM practises at the city level.

The event will then move on to connecting the dots: a round table discussion will examine how coordination for INDC implementation between the national and local level can be strengthened and how climate actions can be aligned.

Overall, the event will provide an exciting opportunity for representatives from all levels of government to join forces for integrated climate action.
